Religious Education
Religious Education is a central part of our curriculum and plays a vital role in promoting the spiritual, moral, social, cultural and intellectual development of our pupils. It allows them to gain a greater understanding of themselves and an awareness of the needs of others, providing essential knowledge that supports them to be able to “Do to others as they would have done to them”.
The teaching of R.E. should be a creative, exciting journey. It should build on the experiences children already have, allowing them to understand the world and their place in it. Children will have the opportunity to reflect and develop their spiritual awareness and thinking skills will be developed through child-led philosophical discussions.
As a result of the effective teaching of RE, children leave St Michael’s better prepared to manage the responsibilities and experiences of adult life, with knowledge of the diverse range of beliefs and practices in their local community and the wider national and international community.
